Role Overview

As Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will serve as a technical lead responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing our cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure environments. You will work closely with software engineering teams, security officers, and project managers to ensure that our platforms meet stringent performance, compliance, and availability requirements. This position reports to the Director of Cloud Engineering and carries significant influence over architectural decisions, technology procurement, and engineering best practices. Key Responsibilities

Architect and maintain multi-cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure, ensuring 99.95% uptime SLA compliance for all production environments serving high-traffic applications.
Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) pipelines using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and Ansible to enable repeatable, version-controlled deployments across development, staging, and production environments.
Lead container orchestration strategy using Kubernetes (EKS and AKS) and Docker, managing clusters that support microservices architectures with over 200 services in production.
Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to enforce zero-trust network policies, implement AWS IAM and Azure AD access controls, and maintain SOC 2 Type II compliance across all infrastructure.
Optimize cloud spending through Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and right-sizing initiatives, targeting a 15–20% reduction in annual infrastructure costs without impacting performance.
Mentor a team of 4–6 mid-level and junior engineers through code reviews, architecture design sessions, and weekly knowledge-sharing workshops.
Develop and maintain comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity plans, including automated failover testing on a quarterly basis with RTO targets under 30 minutes.
Monitor system health and performance using Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch, establishing proactive alerting thresholds that reduce mean time to detection (MTTD) by at least 40%.
Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and present quarterly recommendations to the leadership team regarding adoption of new services, tools, or architectural patterns.
Participate in on-call rotation (one week per month) with a structured escalation process ensuring critical incidents are resolved within defined SLA windows.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience of 7+ years in infrastructure engineering roles.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP also valued), with demonstrable expertise in compute, networking, storage, and security services.
Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly Terraform (3+ years), with experience managing codebases of significant complexity and scale.
Deep understanding of Kubernetes in production environments, including cluster management, Helm chart development, RBAC configuration, and observability stack implementation.
Solid experience with CI/CD pipeline design and management using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins, including integration with automated testing and deployment workflows.
Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (Python, Bash, or Go preferred) for automation, tooling, and custom integrations.
Experience with database infrastructure management, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, and cloud-managed services such as Amazon RDS and Azure SQL.
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals: DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, CDN configuration, VPN, and hybrid cloud connectivity solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

AWS Solutions Architect Professional or Azure Administrator Associate certification.
Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd.
Familiarity with compliance frameworks relevant to Canadian businesses, including PIPEDA, SOC 2, and ISO 27001.
Prior experience in a consulting or client-facing capacity, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of CAD $130,000–$165,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
