📍 Frankfurt am Main, GermanyFull-timeHybrid📅 11 juin 2026

Description du poste

Deutsche Bank, a global leader in investment banking and financial services headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, has operated for over 150 years supporting corporate clients, institutional investors, and private individuals across more than 60 markets worldwide. We are committed to investing in emerging talent through our structured dual apprenticeship (Ausbildung) program, which combines on-the-job training at our Frankfurt finance operations hub with formal vocational education aligned with German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) standards. This program is designed to equip apprentices with the practical skills, regulatory knowledge, and professional network needed to build a long-term career in the banking and finance sector.

We are currently accepting applications for our 2025 Finance Apprentice positions, open exclusively to commerce graduates and MBA Finance students from the 2025 and 2026 batches, with no prior professional work experience required. This role is ideal for candidates seeking a paid, structured training pathway to a permanent finance role, with a clear progression track for high-performing apprentices.

Key responsibilities for this role include:
1. Support the core finance operations team in processing accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring 100% accuracy in data entry and reconciliation of up to 50 client and vendor accounts weekly, in strict alignment with internal control frameworks and BaFin (German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority) regulatory requirements.
2. Assist in preparing monthly financial reporting packs for mid-sized corporate clients, including variance analysis of actuals vs. forecasted figures, with a target of delivering 95% of reports on schedule to meet client delivery deadlines and internal audit requirements.
3. Perform regular bank statement reconciliations for assigned client portfolios, identifying and resolving discrepancies of up to €5,000 within 2 business days, to maintain full compliance with German financial regulations and internal audit policies.
4. Support the onboarding of new corporate clients by gathering required financial documentation, verifying KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) compliance data, with a goal of reducing client onboarding processing time by 10% quarter over quarter.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including risk management, compliance, and client advisory to resolve client queries related to account statements, transaction disputes, and basic financial product inquiries, achieving a customer satisfaction score of 4.2/5 or higher for all resolved queries.
6. Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems for all client financial records, ensuring 100% compliance with GDPR data protection regulations and internal 7-year record retention policies, with zero data loss incidents annually.
7. Participate in bi-weekly vocational training sessions aligned with the German dual education system curriculum, completing all required coursework and end-of-year assessments with a minimum grade of 2.0 (German grading scale) to qualify for the official IHK Finance Operations certification.
8. Contribute to process improvement initiatives for the finance operations team, identifying at least 2 actionable efficiency improvements per quarter to reduce manual processing time by an average of 5% across assigned task areas.

Our Frankfurt office operates a hybrid work model, with 3 days per week in-office for hands-on team collaboration, client-facing task support, and vocational school attendance, and 2 days remote for focused individual task work. We foster an inclusive, supportive culture where all apprentices are paired with a dedicated mentor from the finance leadership team for the full duration of the 2–3 year program, with monthly check-ins to track progress and address development needs. Our team celebrates diversity, with employees from over 70 nationalities, and we prioritize work-life balance with flexible working hours arranged around vocational school schedules, 30 days of paid annual leave, and access to on-site fitness facilities, mental health support programs, and employee wellness stipends.

To be eligible for this role, you must have completed or be in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, or an MBA in Finance, with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (or equivalent academic qualification). You must demonstrate strong attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately with large volumes of sensitive financial data. Basic proficiency in MS Excel (including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and basic macros) is required, and familiarity with SAP S/4HANA Finance modules or other ERP systems is a plus. You must be fluent in written and spoken English, with a minimum B1 level proficiency in German to communicate effectively with internal teams, German-speaking clients, and vocational school instructors. All applicants must be eligible to work in Germany (via EU citizenship, German national work permit, or eligibility for post-study work authorization if graduating from a German university in 2025/2026).

For this role, you will use real-world tools including MS Excel (Advanced), SAP S/4HANA Finance Basics, Salesforce Service Cloud for client query management, Jira for task tracking and process improvement project management, SharePoint for document management and cross-team collaboration, and GDPR-compliant data storage platforms. You will also gain exposure to basic financial reporting tools used for small business client portfolio management.

Apprentices receive a competitive monthly salary aligned with German collective bargaining agreements for the banking sector: €1,200 per month in the first year of training, €1,400 in the second year, and €1,600 in the third year. In addition to base salary, you will receive a yearly transportation allowance of €1,200, a €500 annual learning stipend for textbooks and vocational training materials, and full access to Deutsche Bank’s employee benefits platform, including discounted gym memberships, employer health insurance contributions, and eligibility for the employee stock purchase plan after 6 months of employment. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, high-performing apprentices are offered full-time permanent roles as Finance Operations Analysts, with a starting salary of €45,000–€52,000 per year plus annual performance bonuses.

Career growth opportunities for successful apprentices are extensive: upon completion of the 2–3 year program, you will earn a nationally recognized IHK Finance Operations certification, valid across all EU member states. You will have the opportunity to specialize in high-demand areas including corporate finance, risk management, regulatory compliance, or client advisory, with access to internal training programs, tuition reimbursement for further professional qualifications (including CFA Level 1 and ACCA certifications), and a clear promotion pathway to senior analyst, team lead, and management roles within 3–5 years of full-time employment. Notably, 30% of our 2024 finance apprentice cohort were offered permanent roles within 3 months of completing their training, and 40% of our current finance operations leadership team began their careers as apprentices at Deutsche Bank.

The hiring process for this role is structured as follows, with a total timeline of 3–4 weeks from application to offer, as positions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis until all 2025 apprenticeship slots are filled:
1. Initial application review (1 week from submission): Our talent team will assess your eligibility, academic background, and alignment with role requirements. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 7 business days of submission.
2. Online aptitude and video interview (30 minutes total): You will complete a short numerical reasoning test and record a 10-minute video response to questions assessing your attention to detail, basic financial knowledge, and alignment with our team values.
3. Final interview with the finance operations hiring manager and assigned apprenticeship mentor (45 minutes): This includes a short case study where you will walk through the process of reconciling a sample client bank statement with 5 identified discrepancies.
