The Role

We are seeking an experienced Recruitment Consultant to join our team in London, with a particular focus on the public practice and accountancy recruitment space. This is a multifaceted position available on a staff (permanent), temporary, or contract basis, offering flexibility for the right candidate depending on experience, availability, and career preference.

You will be responsible for managing the full recruitment lifecycle — from business development and client acquisition through to candidate sourcing, interviewing, offer negotiation, and post-placement aftercare. Working within a boutique consultancy environment, you will have direct access to senior leadership and the opportunity to shape service delivery, contribute to market commentary, and build a portfolio of clients across London's thriving accountancy and professional services sector.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Client Management: Proactively identify, target, and secure new client relationships within the public practice sector across London and surrounding regions, achieving quarterly revenue targets of £50,000–£120,000+ depending on seniority and fee structure.
Full-Cycle Recruitment: Manage end-to-end recruitment campaigns for qualified and part-qualified accountancy roles, including Audit Managers, Tax Seniors, Corporate Finance Associates, and Practice Managers, from initial briefing through to offer management and onboarding support.
Market Intelligence & Reporting: Contribute to the production of market reports, salary surveys, and trend analyses by gathering real-time data on candidate availability, fee expectations, and hiring intentions, feeding into publications such as the KPMG and REC UK Report on Jobs.
Candidate Sourcing & Talent Pipelining: Utilise a combination of LinkedIn Recruiter, job board platforms (Indeed, Reed, ICAEW Jobs), headhunting techniques, and an existing professional network to build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified accountancy professionals at all levels from newly qualified to partner.
Interview Coordination & Candidate Care: Conduct thorough screening interviews, assess cultural and technical fit, prepare candidates for client interviews, and provide constructive feedback throughout the process to ensure a high conversion rate from shortlist to placement.
Database & CRM Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all client and candidate interactions within the consultancy's CRM system (Bullhorn, Vincere, or similar), ensuring compliance with GDPR regulations and REC Code of Professional Practice.
Salary Benchmarking & Advisory: Provide authoritative guidance to clients and candidates on current salary trends, benefits packages, and market conditions, drawing on KPMG/REC data and firsthand market knowledge to position yourself as a trusted advisor.
Stakeholder Engagement: Attend client meetings, networking events, and industry conferences to raise the profile of Bryony Gibson Consulting and generate new business opportunities within the accountancy and finance community.
Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all recruitment activity adheres to relevant employment legislation, including the Employment Agencies Act 1973, Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003, and right-to-work verification processes.

Requirements

Experience: Minimum of 2–5 years of recruitment consultancy experience, with a demonstrable track record in professional services, accountancy, or public practice recruitment. Candidates with experience placing ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or ATT-qualified professionals will be strongly preferred.
Market Knowledge: Solid understanding of the UK accountancy and public practice landscape, including familiarity with firm structures (Big 4, mid-tier, boutique, and independent practices), typical career progression routes, and current salary benchmarks across London and the South East.
Business Development Capability: Proven ability to win new client accounts through cold calling, networking, LinkedIn outreach, and relationship-building, with evidence of meeting or exceeding revenue targets in a previous consultancy role.
Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce professional job advertisements, client reports, and market commentary that reflects the firm's authoritative brand positioning.
Technical Proficiency: Confident using recruitment platforms and tools including LinkedIn Recruiter, Bullhorn, Vincere, JobAdder, Indeed, Reed.co.uk, Xero/QuickBooks (for understanding client contexts), Microsoft Office 365, and social media platforms for employer branding and candidate engagement.
Education: A-level standard minimum; a degree in Business, Human Resources, Finance, or a related discipline is advantageous but not essential if compensated by strong industry experience. REC or CIPD qualifications are a plus.
Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, commercially astute, resilient, and capable of managing multiple client and candidate relationships simultaneously. A genuine interest in the UK economy, labour market trends, and the accountancy profession is essential.

Benefits & Compensation

Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, ranging from £30,000 to £55,000 depending on seniority and placement history.
Uncapped commission structure with on-target earnings (OTE) of £60,000–£100,000+ for experienced consultants.
