Hiring Industrial HVAC Technical Field Engineer in Louisville
📍 Louisville, Kentucky, USAFull-timeHybrid📅 11 juin 2026
Description du poste
AirPro is a leading US-based provider of industrial energy and HVAC solutions, operating for 27 years across 12 Midwestern and Southern states, with a portfolio of more than 3 500 deployed systems in manufacturing plants, power generation facilities, food processing sites and data centers. Our Louisville headquarters hosts our core mechanical division, R&D teams and 24/7 customer support center, allowing us to deliver end-to-end services from system design to long-term maintenance for our industrial clients. We are currently expanding our field operations team to support the growing demand for high-efficiency HVAC and energy management systems across our service territory.
We are hiring an Industrial HVAC Technical Field Engineer for a hybrid role based in Louisville, Kentucky. This position is not a standard remote or fully office-based role: you will spend 3 days per week at our Louisville headquarters for team meetings, internal training, project coordination with our mechanical division and supplier follow-ups, with flexibility to work from home the remaining 2 days for report writing, remote diagnostic support and intervention planning. However, this role requires frequent travel: 30 to 40% of your working time will be spent on the road, visiting client industrial sites within a 300-mile radius of Louisville (covering Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Tennessee), attending supplier training sessions at component manufacturing facilities, and testing new equipment at our mechanical division test sites. All travel is supported by a company-provided vehicle, with monthly allowances for meals and accommodation for overnight trips.
Your core responsibilities will include:
1. Conduct on-site technical audits at client industrial facilities to assess existing HVAC and energy system performance, document site-specific technical and regulatory constraints (including OSHA and EPA requirements), and draft preliminary improvement recommendations, with a 100% compliance rate with client audit requirements for all completed assessments.
2. Coordinate the commissioning of new industrial HVAC systems (including air handling units, industrial water cooling systems, high-capacity heat pumps and energy recovery ventilators) at client sites, working closely with AirPro’s mechanical division teams and component suppliers to meet project deadlines, with an average commissioning time of 3 days per site to avoid project delays.
3. Deliver hands-on training to client maintenance teams on the operation, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of installed HVAC systems, with a target client satisfaction score of 4.8/5 for all training sessions delivered.
4. Diagnose and resolve complex faults on deployed industrial HVAC systems, with a goal of resolving 70% of issues remotely via phone or remote access tools, and dispatching a field technician or attending the site in person within 48 hours for cases requiring physical intervention, to guarantee a 99.2% uptime rate for client equipment.
5. Collaborate with AirPro’s R&D and mechanical division teams to share field insights and contribute to product improvement projects, with a requirement to participate in at least 2 product development initiatives per year to enhance the suitability of our systems for industrial use cases.
6. Manage relationships with HVAC component suppliers to validate technical specifications for spare parts, negotiate delivery timelines for maintenance interventions, and reduce average parts lead times by 15% year over year.
7. Write detailed intervention reports for every client visit, including diagnostics performed, actions taken and improvement recommendations, and share these reports with internal teams and clients within 24 hours of the end of the intervention.
8. Participate in project launch meetings with sales teams and clients to assess technical feasibility of proposed HVAC projects and propose tailored solutions that meet site-specific industrial constraints (e.g. high humidity environments, 24/7 operation requirements, strict emissions regulations).
The work environment at AirPro is built on autonomy, safety and collaboration. We prioritize employee safety above all: all field staff receive annual OSHA site safety training, are equipped with full personal protective equipment for industrial site visits, and have access to 24/7 emergency support for field incidents. Our hybrid work model is designed to minimize unnecessary travel while ensuring we deliver the highest level of service to our clients. We offer quarterly team building events, annual performance bonuses for field staff, and a culture that values feedback from frontline teams to improve our products and processes.
To qualify for this role, you must have:
- A minimum of 3 years of field experience in industrial HVAC installation, commissioning or technical support, or 5 years of experience as a senior HVAC technician in an industrial setting
- In-depth knowledge of industrial HVAC systems, including air handling units, industrial cooling systems, heat pumps and energy recovery systems
- Valid US driver’s license with a clean driving record, as frequent travel is required
- Ability to read technical HVAC and electrical plans, and understand industrial site safety regulations
- EPA 608 certification (all types) is mandatory; NATE certification is highly preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical client staff
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work autonomously and manage multiple interventions simultaneously, and a strong client service orientation
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related technical field, or NATE Advanced certification plus 5 years of hands-on field experience.
The compensation package for this role is highly competitive, with an annual base salary between $75,000 and $92,000 USD, depending on your experience and certifications, plus an annual performance bonus of 10 to 15% linked to client satisfaction scores and on-time intervention rates. Additional benefits include:
- A company-provided vehicle for all work-related travel, with monthly untaxed allowances for meals and accommodation for overnight trips
- Health insurance coverage with 80% of premiums paid by AirPro for you and your dependents, including dental and vision coverage
- 25 days of paid annual leave plus 10 days of paid sick leave per year
- 100% coverage of all HVAC certification costs (NATE recertification, EPA 608, manufacturer-specific certifications)
- Flexible hybrid work schedule with no fixed core hours outside of scheduled team meetings
- 4% employer contribution to your retirement savings plan
- All professional equipment provided, including a laptop, diagnostic tools (Testo, Fluke) and a work mobile phone.
Career growth opportunities at AirPro are strong: after 2 years in this role, you can progress to Senior Technical Field Engineer, Field Team Lead or Industrial HVAC Project Manager. We cover 100% of costs for professional development courses, including training on new zero-emission HVAC technologies, high-temperature heat pumps and renewable energy system integration, to help you build in-demand skills. After 3 years of tenure, you may also be eligible for internal mobility to other AirPro locations across the US.
Our recruitment process is straightforward and designed to respect your time:
1. First step: 30-minute phone interview with our Field Operations Manager to discuss your experience, expectations and fit for the role
2. Second step: In-person interview at our Louisville headquarters with the Technical Lead and a member of the field engineering team, including a discussion of real-world fault resolution scenarios
3. Third step: Practical diagnostic test on an industrial HVAC system, followed by a final interview with the Director of Operations
