About JF Petroleum Group
Operating for 16 years across the United States, JF Petroleum Group is a leading provider of specialized maintenance, repair, and operational support services for oil and gas operators ranging from independent drilling companies to major international energy firms. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, we manage more than 200 active service contracts across the Permian Basin, Eagle Ford Shale, and Gulf of Mexico offshore operations, with a track record of 99.2% on-time service delivery and zero lost-time safety incidents across our field teams in 2023. Our core values center on uncompromising safety, transparent communication with clients and employees, and continuous improvement of our technical processes to support both traditional hydrocarbon operations and emerging renewable energy maintenance services.
Role Overview
We are hiring a Service Manager to lead our field service team delivering maintenance and emergency repair services for oil and gas production and drilling sites across Texas. Reporting directly to the Director of Field Operations, you will be responsible for end-to-end management of service delivery, team performance, safety compliance, client satisfaction, and operational budgeting for a portfolio of 35+ active commercial clients. This role is ideal for an experienced field service leader with deep knowledge of oil and gas equipment and a track record of building high-performing, safety-focused teams.
Key Responsibilities
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include the following measurable, client-facing and operational tasks:
1. Supervise a team of 12 to 15 field service technicians, plan daily and weekly intervention schedules aligned with client priorities and equipment criticality, and maintain a minimum 95% on-time arrival rate for all scheduled service calls.
2. Ensure 100% compliance with federal OSHA regulations, EPA environmental standards, and API industry norms across all field interventions; conduct weekly safety audits of field sites and team equipment, with a target of reducing reportable safety incidents by 10% year-over-year for your managed team.
3. Manage a monthly operational budget of $50,000 to $75,000 covering spare parts, fuel, vehicle maintenance, and technician overtime, identifying cost-saving opportunities to reduce operational expenses by 5% annually without impacting service quality.
4. Lead emergency response for critical equipment failures on drilling and production sites, ensuring a 2-hour maximum response time to client alerts, and resolve 90% of Tier 1 emergency faults within 24 hours of site arrival.
5. Manage a portfolio of 35 commercial clients including independent operators and mid-sized energy firms, conduct monthly performance review meetings with key client stakeholders, and maintain a minimum 92% client satisfaction score for your managed service area.
6. Oversee inventory management for critical spare parts in the Houston central warehouse, conduct monthly stock audits, and reduce stockout rates for high-use parts by 15% year-over-year to minimize downtime for client operations.
7. Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all common field interventions, lead onboarding and quarterly training sessions for new and existing technicians on safety protocols and equipment repair techniques, and reduce new technician ramp-up time by 20% through structured training programs.
8. Collaborate with the sales and business development teams to develop custom service quotes for new client opportunities, and contribute to a 10% annual growth in service revenue for your managed region.
Work Environment and Culture
At JF Petroleum Group, safety is non-negotiable: we never penalize teams for delaying interventions to address safety risks, and all field staff are provided with top-tier personal protective equipment and late-model service vehicles. Our leadership team maintains an open-door policy, and field technician feedback is formally collected quarterly to refine our operating procedures. We are also actively expanding our service offerings to support renewable energy infrastructure maintenance, and employees are encouraged to participate in cross-training programs to build skills for these growing market segments. The role requires 30% travel to client sites across Texas, with the remaining time split between office-based planning and reporting in Houston and remote coordination with field teams.
Candidate Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will meet the following criteria:
- 5+ years of experience in oil and gas field service management, with at least 2 years leading on-site service teams for drilling or production operations.
- In-depth knowledge of common oilfield equipment including drilling rigs, progressing cavity pumps, gas processing units, and equipment from leading manufacturers including National Oilwell Varco, Schlumberger, and Halliburton.
- Proven experience maintaining full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and API industry standards for oil and gas field operations.
- Proficiency with maintenance management tools (CMMS) including SAP PM, Fiix, or MaintainX, and customer relationship management (CRM) platforms including Salesforce.
- Strong communication and crisis management skills, with the ability to de-escalate client concerns during emergency service situations and coordinate cross-functional teams to resolve issues quickly.
- Valid US driver’s license with a clean driving record, and willingness to travel to field sites across Texas as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field; 7+ years of equivalent professional experience in the oil and gas services sector will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a highly competitive compensation package tailored to senior field service leaders:
- Base annual salary between $95,000 and $125,000, adjusted based on years of relevant experience and proven track record of service delivery.
- Annual performance bonus of up to 15% of base salary, tied to team safety performance, client satisfaction scores, and operational cost targets.
- 80% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance coverage for you and your dependents, with optional supplemental coverage available at reduced group rates.
- 20 days of paid time off per year, plus 10 paid sick days and 7 paid company holidays.
- 5% annual employer contribution to your 401(k) retirement plan, with immediate vesting.
- Fully equipped service vehicle for field travel, plus all required personal protective equipment (PPE) provided at no cost.
- Annual professional development stipend of up to $3,000 to cover certification courses, industry training, or leadership development programs.
Career Growth Opportunities
This role offers clear pathways for advancement within JF Petroleum Group’s expanding operations. High-performing Service Managers are eligible for promotion to Regional Operations Director roles overseeing service teams across multiple US states, or to specialized leadership positions supporting our new renewable energy maintenance division. We also offer customized leadership development programs and tuition reimbursement for advanced industry certifications to help you build the skills needed for long-term career growth.
Recruitment Process and Next Steps
Applications for this role will be reviewed within 5 business days of submission. If your profile matches our requirements, you will be contacted to schedule a 30-minute initial phone screening with our Field Operations Director. Selected candidates will then be invited to a 2-hour on-site interview at our Houston headquarters, including a tour of our service facilities and a practical scenario discussion with current field team leads. Final candidates will be subject to professional reference checks and standard background screening prior to receiving a formal job offer. The position is available immediately, with a negotiable start date to accommodate standard professional notice periods.
