Hiring Commercial Lines Account Manager in Louisville

📍 Louisville, KYFull-timeHybrid📅 11 juin 2026

Description du poste

Context: Our independent insurance agency, based in Louisville for 15 years and partnered with national leading insurers (Travelers, Liberty Mutual, Hiscox), is experiencing strong growth: we have expanded our commercial client portfolio by 40% over the past two years, and we are hiring a Commercial Lines Account Manager to support this expansion and strengthen our team dedicated to central Kentucky business accounts.

Role introduction: You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of 80 to 120 existing commercial client accounts (businesses with 10 to 500 employees operating in the logistics, manufacturing, healthcare and hospitality sectors) as well as developing new accounts across Louisville and surrounding counties. You will work closely with our in-house underwriters and partner brokers to propose tailored insurance solutions for each business, while maintaining a minimum 92% policy renewal rate and increasing revenue per client by 15% within your first 12 months.

Detailed responsibilities:
1. Manage the full lifecycle of client contracts: from initial signing to annual renewal, including coverage adjustments linked to business evolution (hiring, geographic expansion, new product launches).
2. Conduct annual audits of each client’s insurance policies to identify coverage gaps, particularly for emerging risks (cyber risk, supply chain risks, customer data liability) and propose adjustments compliant with federal and Kentucky state insurance regulations.
3. Negotiate policy terms with partner insurer underwriters to secure the best rates and conditions for clients, and resolve claims within 48 business hours to maintain a minimum 95% client satisfaction rate.
4. Develop new client accounts by participating in Louisville Chamber of Commerce events, industry trade shows and targeted prospecting actions, with a target of 8 new signed contracts per quarter.
5. Use the Salesforce CRM to update all client interactions, track prospect pipelines, and generate monthly reports on portfolio performance, renewal rates and sales targets for management.
6. Host client training workshops on risk management best practices, regulatory changes and new commercial insurance offerings, to strengthen client retention and the agency’s position as a local expert.
7. Identify cross-selling opportunities (adding coverage options, insuring new vehicles, employee insurance) to increase revenue per client, with a target of 15% revenue growth per account in the first year.
8. Mentor junior sales team new hires, share your negotiation and account management best practices, and contribute to the development of the agency’s sales processes to support its growth.

Work environment & culture: You will join a team of 25 people, spread across underwriting, claims management, accounting and sales, in modern offices in downtown Louisville. We prioritize a collaborative culture with no rigid hierarchy: every team member can propose process improvements and is heard by management. We offer 2 days of remote work per week, and monthly team events (afterworks, internal training, team building days) to strengthen cohesion. Our priority is our employees’ work-life balance, reflected in flexible working hours and supportive management.

Candidate requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in client account management or sales in the commercial insurance sector, ideally within an independent agency or insurance brokerage.
- Solid knowledge of commercial insurance lines (general liability, property insurance, commercial auto insurance, employee insurance) and Kentucky state insurance regulations.
- Proficiency in Salesforce CRM, Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of agency management platforms Applied Epic or AMS360 is an asset.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, ability to explain complex insurance concepts to non-expert clients, and build long-term trust-based relationships.
- Results-oriented, able to work autonomously and manage a diverse client portfolio, with a minimum 80% negotiation success rate over the past 2 years.
- Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle, to meet 70% of clients on site across Louisville and surrounding counties.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance or related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

Technical skills: The tools you will use daily include: Salesforce CRM for client management and prospect tracking, Applied Epic or AMS360 for insurance policy management, partner insurer claims platforms (Travelers ClaimCenter, Liberty Mutual ClaimView), Google Workspace for internal collaboration, and Zoom and Microsoft Teams for client and team meetings.

Benefits & compensation: This role offers a fixed base salary of $65,000 to $85,000 per year, depending on your experience and performance, plus commission on cross-sales and new signed contracts, with an annual commission target of $10,000 to $20,000. You will benefit from Fortune 500-level benefits: unlimited PTO, health insurance covered at 80% for you and your family, 401k retirement plan with 6% employer match on your salary, travel and professional training reimbursement (up to $3,000 per year), and annual profit-sharing (up to 10% of your annual salary based on agency performance).

Career growth opportunities: The agency plans to open 2 new branches across Kentucky over the next 3 years, creating numerous advancement opportunities. You could become head of the sales department within 2 to 3 years, or specialize in a high-growth sector (cyber insurance, healthcare business insurance) with training fully covered by the agency. You will receive personalized mentoring from the agency director, who has 20 years of experience in commercial insurance brokering, and will attend national insurance broker conferences each year to develop your skills and network.

Hiring process & next steps: To apply, send your CV and optional cover letter to Hannah Lowry Menjivar at [email protected], with the subject line “Application – Commercial Lines Account Manager, Louisville”. The hiring process takes place over 3 steps within a maximum of 2 weeks: first, a 30-minute phone interview with Hannah to verify your fit for the role and the agency’s culture; then a 45-minute in-person interview with the sales director and sales team, during which you will discuss concrete client cases and role objectives; finally a 30-minute final interview with the agency CEO to discuss your career growth prospects. The desired start date is within 30 days of contract signing, but we are flexible based on your availability. We respond to all applications within 5 business days, and only contact selected candidates for the next steps of the process.
