Description du poste

A top-rated independent commercial insurance agency based in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, with 25+ years of operating history serving 1,200+ small to mid-sized business clients across the Southeast and Midwest, is expanding its commercial lines team to support 30% year-over-year growth in new client onboarding. We are seeking an experienced Commercial Lines Account Manager to oversee a dedicated portfolio of 80-120 commercial client accounts across industries including construction, manufacturing, healthcare, and professional services, reporting directly to the Director of Commercial Lines. This role is focused on delivering end-to-end account management, driving policy renewals, identifying cross-sell opportunities for ancillary coverage, and maintaining a 95%+ annual client retention rate for your assigned portfolio. Core measurable responsibilities include: 1. Manage a dedicated portfolio of 80-120 active commercial client accounts across core regional industries, conducting quarterly business reviews with 100% of your clients to identify coverage gaps, evolving risk needs, and opportunities to expand service offerings. 2. Achieve and exceed a 92% annual policy renewal rate across your portfolio, coordinating with underwriting teams to negotiate competitive terms, resolve coverage disputes, and respond to all client escalations within 24 business hours. 3. Drive 15% year-over-year premium revenue growth per account by identifying and closing cross-sell opportunities for ancillary coverage including cyber liability, umbrella policies, commercial auto, and workers’ compensation. 4. Serve as the primary point of contact for client claims support, partnering with claims adjusters to resolve 90% of routine claims within 5 business days, and advocating for clients on complex claims to ensure alignment with policy terms and client expectations. 5. Support new business conversion efforts by providing risk assessment insights and tailored coverage recommendations for inbound leads, contributing to a 20% overall close rate for prospective commercial clients. 6. Maintain 100% accurate and compliant client records in the agency’s AMS360 agency management system and Dynamics 365 CRM, ensuring all documentation meets state insurance regulatory requirements and passes internal audit reviews. 7. Mentor and train 2-3 junior account associates on core account management workflows, client communication best practices, and policy review processes, supporting a 10% annual improvement in junior team performance metrics. 8. Conduct annual in-depth risk assessments for all high-value accounts (minimum $10,000 in annual premium), identifying potential liability exposures and recommending customized coverage solutions to reduce client risk and improve long-term retention. The agency operates a hybrid work model, with 3 days per week required in the downtown Louisville office to facilitate in-person client meetings, team collaboration, and training sessions, and 2 days available for fully remote focused work. The office features an open collaborative workspace, private meeting rooms for client calls, and a shared break area with complimentary snacks and coffee. Team culture is built on transparency and client-centric service, with no unnecessary corporate red tape: account managers are empowered to make client-focused decisions within pre-approved authority limits, and regular team feedback sessions are held monthly to improve internal processes. The agency has a 4.7/5 rating on Glassdoor, with 92% of surveyed employees reporting they feel valued and supported in their roles. To qualify for this role, you must have 3+ years of full-time experience in commercial insurance account management, with a documented track record of meeting or exceeding renewal, retention, and revenue targets. You must hold a valid Kentucky insurance producer license, or be eligible to obtain one within 30 days of hire. Proficiency in AMS360 or similar agency management software, as well as experience using CRM platforms for client tracking, is required. You must have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex insurance policy language into clear, actionable insights for small to mid-sized business owners. The ability to prioritize competing deadlines, manage a high-volume account portfolio, and work independently with minimal oversight is required. A bachelor’s degree in business, insurance, risk management, or a related field is preferred, but candidates with equivalent professional experience and a proven track record of success in commercial account management will be given full consideration. You will be expected to use the following tools on a daily basis: AMS360 for policy tracking and client record management, Applied Epic for underwriting collaboration and quote generation, Microsoft Dynamics 365 for CRM and client ticketing, Slack for internal team communication, Zoom for virtual client meetings and training, and Adobe Acrobat for policy document review and sharing. Familiarity with ISO commercial lines rating software and compliance requirements for Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio insurance regulations is a strong plus. This role offers a base salary of $62,000 to $78,000 per year, adjusted for experience and qualifications, plus a performance-based annual bonus of up to 15% of base salary tied to individual portfolio renewal rate, cross-sell revenue, and client retention metrics. Benefits are aligned with Fortune 500 standards, including 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees, with 80% premium coverage for enrolled dependents. You will have access to unlimited PTO, with a mandatory minimum of 15 paid days off per year, plus 10 paid company holidays and 5 paid volunteer days annually to support causes you care about. The agency offers a 401(k) retirement plan with a 6% employer match, fully vested from your first day of employment. You will also receive a $2,500 annual professional development stipend to cover costs for industry certifications (including CPCU, ARM, and CIC), conference attendance, and continuing education courses. Additional perks include a $75 monthly remote work stipend for home office expenses, free on-site gym access in the downtown Louisville office, and a 25% discount on personal insurance policies (auto, home, renters) through the agency. The agency has a structured career path for account management team members, with clear criteria for advancement to Senior Account Manager, Commercial Lines Team Lead, and Director of Account Management roles. High-performing employees are eligible for promotion within 2-3 years of hire, based on performance metrics and alignment with agency growth goals. The agency also supports internal mobility, allowing employees to transfer to other departments including new business development, underwriting, and operations to expand their skill sets and pursue new career interests. Quarterly performance reviews are conducted with your direct manager to set goals, identify areas for growth, and create personalized development plans to support your long-term career objectives. The full hiring process for this role is expected to take 2 to 3 weeks from initial application to offer, and consists of three steps: 1) A 30-minute initial phone screen with Hannah Lowry Menjivar, the recruiting lead for this role, to discuss your experience, career goals, and fit for the position. 2) A 60-minute in-person interview with the Director of Commercial Lines and a Senior Account Manager, which includes a short case study exercise where you will review a sample client portfolio and provide recommendations for improving retention and cross-sell opportunities. 3) A final 30-minute interview with the agency’s CEO to discuss your long-term career goals and alignment with the agency’s 5-year growth plan. Qualified candidates are encouraged to share their professional resume and a short overview of your experience managing commercial insurance portfolios to [email protected]. All applications will be reviewed within 3 business days of submission, and selected candidates will be contacted directly to schedule the first interview step. No formal cover letter is required, but candidates who include details about their past experience managing commercial accounts and hitting retention/renewal targets will be prioritized for interview.
