Our Phoenix terminal, located in the heart of Arizona’s logistics corridor, is our largest distribution hub, processing 1.2 million gallons of gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel, and sustainable biofuels monthly, with a mandate to achieve zero safety incidents and 99.9% on-time delivery to clients by 2025. We are currently expanding our sustainable fuel offerings, with plans to double our HVO and biodiesel storage capacity by the end of next year, and we are hiring aFuel Terminal Operations Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of our Phoenix site.
In this role, you will oversee all activities related to fuel receipt, storage, and dispatch at the 15-acre Phoenix terminal, which houses 12 storage tanks, 20 truck loading bays, and a team of 18 operations, maintenance, and safety staff. You will report directly to the Regional Operations Director and work closely with the safety, logistics, and commercial teams to meet our operational, safety, and sustainability targets.
Your core responsibilities will include:
1. Supervise all terminal operations including fuel receipt from pipelines and tanker trucks, storage tank level monitoring, and dispatch of fuel to retail stations and commercial clients, ensuring full compliance with EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations, with a target of zero regulatory violations and zero accidental spills per year.
2. Manage a team of 18 staff: create shift schedules, conduct quarterly performance reviews, lead onboarding training for new operators on loading procedures and safety protocols, and resolve team conflicts, with a goal of 90% employee retention over 12 months.
3. Optimize truck loading processes to reduce average wait times for carrier drivers to under 45 minutes per load, and increase monthly fuel throughput by 5% annually without increasing operational costs.
4. Conduct daily inspections of storage tanks, valves, leak detection systems, and personal protective equipment, and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance with the on-site maintenance team to maintain 98% equipment uptime.
5. Manage fuel inventory levels: track tank fill rates, anticipate seasonal demand spikes (summer travel, holiday periods), and submit replenishment orders to partner refineries, to avoid stockouts and maintain 99.9% on-time delivery to all clients.
6. Investigate all safety incidents, near-misses, and client complaints related to terminal operations, write regulatory-compliant incident reports, and implement corrective action plans to prevent recurrence of events.
7. Coordinate fuel deliveries to 120 Phoenix-branded service stations across Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada, plus 35 industrial and fleet clients, optimizing truck routes to reduce transportation costs by 3% annually.
8. Maintain all terminal regulatory documentation including storage logs, emission reports, and staff training records, and prepare for annual EPA and OSHA audits, with a target of 100% compliance score on all inspections.
9. Lead continuous improvement projects including deployment of IoT sensors for real-time tank level and leak monitoring, implementation of a fleet management system for delivery trucks, and delivery of a 10% reduction in the terminal’s carbon footprint by 2026.

To qualify for this role, you must have:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience supervising fuel terminal, chemical storage, or liquid food processing facility operations, with proven experience complying with hazardous materials safety regulations.
- An associate’s degree in logistics, process engineering, or industrial safety, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proficiency in inventory management software (SAP MM, Oracle WMS), fleet tracking tools (Fleetio, Samsara), and advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VBA macros).
- In-depth knowledge of EPA 40 CFR Part 280, OSHA 29 CFR Part 1910, and DOT 49 CFR regulations for petroleum storage and transport.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, manage a mid-sized team, and resolve operational issues under pressure.
- A valid US driver’s license; HAZMAT certification is strongly preferred.
- Fluency in English; Spanish language proficiency is a plus for communicating with carrier teams.
