Hiring Area Sales Manager in Phoenix
📍 Phoenix, AZFull-timeHybrid📅 11 juin 2026
Description du poste
Wise Staffing Group is a nationally recognized staffing and recruitment firm that has operated for 17 years, placing over 12,000 candidates annually across light industrial, healthcare support, administrative, and professional services sectors for more than 220 corporate clients spanning 14 U.S. states. With a 92% client retention rate and a 4.7/5 Glassdoor employee rating, we prioritize long-term partnership over short-term placement volume, building tailored workforce solutions that reduce hiring costs and turnover for our clients while creating stable, well-compensated career paths for placed talent. We are currently expanding our Phoenix metropolitan sales team to support growing client demand in the region, and are seeking an experienced Area Sales Manager to lead business development, account management, and sales strategy for our local market.
This role is not a cold-call-only position: you will spend 60% of your time building relationships with existing clients and prospects, 25% collaborating with local recruitment teams to align sales targets with candidate pipelines, and 15% on administrative work, pipeline reporting, and team mentorship. You will report directly to the Regional Vice President of Sales for the Southwest, and work closely with a team of 6 local recruiters and 2 junior account executives to hit shared revenue and placement targets.
Your core responsibilities will include:
1. Leading end-to-end business development for the Phoenix area, targeting 15-20 new small to mid-sized client accounts per quarter across manufacturing, logistics, healthcare administration, and professional services sectors, with a focus on accounts with 20+ annual hiring needs.
2. Managing a portfolio of 40+ existing active client accounts, conducting quarterly business reviews to forecast upcoming hiring needs, addressing service gaps, and negotiating contract renewals, with a target client retention rate of 90% or higher annually.
3. Collaborating with local recruitment teams to align client job requirements with available candidate pipelines, working to reduce average time-to-fill for open positions by 25% year-over-year while maintaining a 92%+ placement retention rate at 90 days.
4. Maintaining 100% accurate records of all client interactions, deal stages, and pipeline projections in Salesforce, generating weekly sales forecasts and performance reports for leadership review.
5. Negotiating staffing service contracts, pricing tiers, and service level agreements (SLAs) with clients, ensuring average gross margin per placement stays at or above 35% across all managed accounts.
6. Representing Wise Staffing Group at 2-3 local industry events, chamber of commerce meetings, and business networking functions per month to expand regional brand presence and generate qualified sales leads.
7. Mentoring and coaching 2-3 junior account executives on sales best practices, client communication, and contract negotiation, with a goal of improving team quota attainment by 15% annually.
8. Resolving client escalations related to placement quality, payroll issues, or compliance concerns within 24 business hours, maintaining a 4.5/5 or higher client satisfaction score for all managed accounts.
Our Phoenix office is located in downtown Phoenix, with easy access to the I-10 and I-17 corridors for client meetings. We offer a hybrid work schedule: 3 days per week in the office for team meetings, training, and administrative work, and 2 days per week in the field meeting clients, with flexible scheduling available for client events outside standard 9-5 business hours. Our team culture is collaborative and low-turnover, with 68% of our Phoenix sales team having been with the company for 3 years or longer. We prioritize work-life balance, with no after-hours email expectations for non-urgent matters, and regular team social events including monthly lunch and learns, quarterly offsites, and an annual company retreat.
To qualify for this role, you must have at least 3 years of full-time B2B sales experience, with a proven track record of exceeding individual sales quotas for 2 consecutive years. Prior experience in staffing, recruitment, or HR solutions is preferred but not required, as we provide comprehensive 4-week paid onboarding covering our service offerings, tech stack, and local client portfolio. You must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation for client meetings across the Phoenix metro area, as well as strong familiarity with the local business landscape. Proficiency in Salesforce, Microsoft Office Suite, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator is required.
We use a suite of industry-standard tools to support your work: Salesforce for CRM and pipeline tracking, ADP Workforce Now for payroll and compliance alignment with placed candidates, LinkedIn Sales Navigator for lead generation, Calendly for client scheduling, Slack for internal team communication, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 for back-office staffing operations tracking.
The compensation package for this role is highly competitive, with a base salary of up to $115,000 annually, adjusted based on your years of relevant sales experience and size of your existing client portfolio. You will also earn uncapped commission, paid weekly, with top performers in the role earning an additional $40,000 to $75,000 annually. We offer a full benefits package including 90% coverage of medical, dental, and vision premiums for employees, 50% coverage for dependent coverage, a 401(k) plan with a 4% company match, 15 days of paid time off plus 10 paid company holidays, 5 days of paid volunteer time off per year, a $350 monthly car allowance for client travel, a company-provided cell phone and mobile hotspot for field work, and a $2,000 annual professional development stipend for sales conferences, industry certifications, or training courses. Top 10% performers each year are eligible for an all-expenses-paid vacation bonus and additional cash awards.
Career growth with Wise Staffing Group is clearly defined and based on performance, not tenure. After 2 consecutive years of 120%+ quota attainment, you will be eligible for promotion to Senior Area Sales Manager, with a 15% base salary increase and additional leadership responsibilities. After 3 years in the Senior Area Sales Manager role with consistent performance, you can advance to Regional Sales Director, overseeing sales operations across multiple Southwest markets. We also offer internal leadership training programs, sponsorship for industry certifications such as the CPSM (Certified Professional in Sales Management), and opportunities to present at national staffing industry conferences. Many of our current senior leadership team members started as area sales managers with the company 5+ years ago, so there is a clear path to advancement for high performers.
Our hiring process is designed to be transparent and efficient, with all decisions communicated within 3 business days of each interview stage. The full process takes no longer than 2 weeks from application submission to offer. First, you will complete a 30-minute initial phone screen with our Phoenix HR Business Partner to discuss your background and fit for the role. Next, you will participate in a 45-minute video interview with the Phoenix Area Sales Director to review your sales experience, client portfolio, and approach to business development. The final step is a 1-hour interview with the Regional Vice President of Sales, which includes a brief, low-pressure role-play exercise simulating a client negotiation scenario for a new staffing contract. All candidates will receive a decision within 3 business days of completing the final interview.
