Hiring Area Sales Manager in Phoenix
📍 Phoenix, AZFull-timeHybrid📅 11 juin 2026
Description du poste
Wise Staffing Group is a national full-service staffing firm with 23 years of experience connecting local businesses with qualified temporary, contract-to-hire, and permanent talent across light industrial, administrative, healthcare support, and professional services sectors. We serve more than 1,200 client partners across 15 U.S. states, with a track record of 92% client retention and 89% candidate satisfaction rate over the past 5 years. Our Phoenix office has seen 35% year-over-year growth in local client revenue since 2021, and we are hiring an Area Sales Manager to lead business development and account management for the Phoenix metropolitan market.
In this role, you will own the full sales lifecycle for the Phoenix territory, driving new client acquisition, expanding our existing client portfolio, and aligning client staffing needs with our local recruitment and operations teams to deliver consistent, high-quality service. Your core responsibilities will include:
1. Managing the end-to-end sales process for the Phoenix territory, prospecting 50+ new local businesses weekly and closing 15+ new staffing service contracts per quarter across manufacturing, logistics, healthcare support, and professional services sectors.
2. Owning a portfolio of 40+ active client accounts, conducting quarterly business reviews to identify unmet hiring needs, cross-sell additional service lines (temp-to-hire, direct placement, payroll processing), and maintaining a 90%+ client retention rate year-over-year.
3. Developing and executing territory-specific go-to-market strategies, including participation in 2-3 local business events, chamber of commerce meetings, or industry job fairs per month to generate 100+ qualified sales leads monthly.
4. Negotiating staffing service contracts, pricing tiers, and service level agreements (SLAs) with clients, aligning terms with company margin targets while meeting client requirements for 95%+ fill rates and 7-day average time-to-hire for open roles.
5. Collaborating with the Phoenix recruitment and operations teams to align client job orders with available candidate pools, resolving client escalations within 24 business hours, and ensuring 95% of placed candidates meet client performance expectations for their first 90 days of employment.
6. Tracking all sales activity, pipeline metrics, and client interactions in Salesforce CRM, submitting weekly pipeline updates and monthly territory revenue forecasts to the regional sales director with 95%+ forecast accuracy.
7. Conducting ongoing market research on Phoenix’s local labor market trends, competitor pricing, and emerging industry hiring needs to adjust sales positioning and identify high-growth niche segments for the business to target.
8. Representing Wise Staffing Group at local industry networking events and client appreciation functions 1-2 times per month to build brand visibility and strengthen client relationships in the region.
This is a hybrid role, with 3 days per week spent in our Phoenix central office for team syncs, training, and administrative work, and 2 days per week in the field meeting with clients and prospects across the metro area. We maintain a low-micro-management culture that gives sales teams full autonomy to run their territories, with access to a dedicated in-house marketing team that generates 30% of all new inbound leads, a shared administrative support team that handles contract paperwork and client onboarding, and a weekly peer sales coaching circle to share best practices and troubleshoot challenges. We prioritize work-life balance, with no expectation of after-hours email responses for non-urgent client issues, and flexible scheduling to accommodate client meetings outside standard 9-5 hours when needed.
To qualify for this role, you must have 3+ years of full-cycle B2B sales experience, with at least 1 year of experience selling staffing, recruitment, or HR services strongly preferred. You must hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation for client meetings across the Phoenix metropolitan area. We are looking for candidates with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas in a competitive environment, with experience managing a sales pipeline of $500k+ in annual revenue. Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills are required, with the ability to connect with C-suite business leaders, HR managers, and operations teams at client organizations. Familiarity with Salesforce CRM or similar sales tracking tools is required, and you must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, target-driven environment while maintaining strong attention to detail for contract compliance and client reporting.
You will use the following tools in your day-to-day work: Salesforce CRM for pipeline and client tracking, HubSpot for inbound lead management, Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel for revenue forecasting), Zoom for virtual client meetings, LinkedIn Sales Navigator for prospect research, DocuSign for contract execution, and our proprietary internal staffing operations platform for job order and candidate tracking.
The compensation for this role includes a base salary of up to $115,000 annually, adjusted based on your prior sales experience and territory performance history, plus an uncapped commission structure paid weekly (a rare benefit in the sales industry, where most roles pay commission bi-weekly or monthly) so you see the direct financial impact of your work immediately. Total on-target earnings (OTE) for top performers in the Phoenix territory average $180,000 to $220,000 annually. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance with 90% of premium costs covered by the company for employees and 50% for dependents, 15 days of paid time off plus 10 paid company holidays, a 401(k) plan with 4% company match, a $250 monthly stipend to cover car expenses and cell phone costs for territory work, and $2,000 in annual professional development funding for sales training, industry certifications, or conference attendance.
We prioritize internal promotion for high-performing sales staff. Area Sales Managers who exceed their territory targets for 2 consecutive years are eligible for promotion to Regional Sales Director, overseeing 3-5 area sales managers across the Southwest, with a base salary of $140,000 to $160,000 and higher commission potential. We also offer lateral growth opportunities to move into sales operations, client success management, or corporate sales leadership roles if you prefer to specialize in a non-client-facing function. All sales staff have access to a dedicated mentorship program with senior leadership, quarterly performance reviews with clear promotion pathways, and regular skills training workshops focused on negotiation, territory planning, and staffing industry best practices.
Our hiring process for this role is designed to be transparent and completed within 3 weeks of application submission. First, you will complete a 20-minute initial phone screen with our Phoenix recruiting coordinator to confirm your basic qualifications and share more details about the role and compensation. Next, you will have a 45-minute virtual interview with the regional sales director to discuss your past sales experience, territory management strategies, and fit with our company culture. The final step is a 30-minute in-person interview at our Phoenix office with the vice president of sales, where you will complete a short role-play exercise simulating a client pitch for staffing services, followed by a Q&A about the role’s expectations and growth opportunities. All candidates will receive a decision via email within 2 business days of their final interview. To apply, submit your resume to [email protected] with the subject line "Area Sales Manager - Phoenix Application - [Your Full Name]", and include a brief 2-3 sentence note sharing a specific example of a sales win or client retention success from your past experience that you would bring to this role. We will review all applications on a rolling basis and reach out to qualified candidates within 5 business days of submission.
